**Effects and Uses:**
Raisins are
nourishing, heart-strengthening, digestive, and mildly laxative. They are known
to clear the chest, are heart tonic, and mildly aphrodisiac. Raisins are
frequently consumed as food. Due to their invigorating and heart-strengthening
properties, they are particularly beneficial for heart weakness. For added
effect, soak one tola of raisins in rose water overnight, leave it in the dew,
and in the morning, eat the soaked raisins and drink the strained rose water.
Due to their clearing effect on the chest, raisins are also used for cough
relief and voice clarification. They are resistant to the effects of ether,
spirit, and chloroform.
