NAMES:
Bengali Gad - Persian Qandsiyah - English Jaggery -
Sugarcane juice is squeezed and frozen. When the consistency is hardened and
mixed with hands and made into a paste - it is called red sugar –
Color:
Red Taste: Sweet.
Temper:
Hot 2 to 2 - Old jaggery Hot and dry.
Dosage:
4 tola to 6 tola.
Actions and uses:

Fat body, laxative nature.

It is an
anti-inflammatory.

It is
consumed in large quantities as food.
·
It thins
phlegm. Cough.
·
It is useful for asthma and bronchitis and is
beneficial for chest pain.

Eating a
small amount after a meal helps digest food.
·
For the
purpose of relief, Mixed with purgatives to aid their effectiveness. Jaggery
syrup is used instead of honey to prepare medicinal confections (Ma'ajeen).
